The ODF is a portable, readable, self-describing file type suitable for various operating systems and facilitates long-term document preservation. It became an international standard (ISO/IEC26300) and was widely adopted by countries around the world in 2006. The ODF was adopted as the national standard CNS15251 in 2009. Since 2015, the Taiwan government has continuously promoted the popularization of the ODF and developed various ODF software suites based on the ideals of software equality, digital sovereignty, and sustainable development, such as Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw, etc.
